Welcome to the Wayne State University Dance Capstone websites. Each senior dance major at Wayne State created a website this year to satisfy the Digital Dance Portfolio requirement for the course and to showcase themselves - their experience, artistic beliefs, and work in areas such as choreography, performance, teaching and research - as they graduate and pursue careers in dance.

The Digital Dance Curriculum that is integrated throughout dance majors' course of study at Wayne State prepares them for this aspect of the course. They learn skills in video editing and image creation and editing, as well as audio manipulation.

The Capstone course, DNC 5996, also includes a final choreographic project that students develop throughout the term. These dances are presented in a showcase concert, and the expectation is that the works are finely crafted and fully realized.  The concert this year, entitled Movement Speak, was held on April 5-7 in the Maggie Allesee Studio Theatre in Old Main. Capstone students are responsible for the organization and certain production elements of this concert, including: rehearsal (scheduling, direction, and weekly showings) and publicity (poster and program concept and design, show order, press release). They also work with the production crew as the show nears, developing skills that will serve them in future choreographic and performance endeavors.
